| December 20, 2010 Snowmobile drag racing has been added to the Grand Prix de Valcourt, the annual winter motorsports event in Valcourt, Quebec. Regulations for this year’s drag race will be based on the ISR rulebook. Six categories, from 500cc to the turbocharged sleds and the 1000cc category, are scheduled to compete. Each category will feature Stock and Open classes. The four-lane, snow-covered track will be 660 feet long. Drag racing will start at 3:00 p.m. on February 18 and conclude under the lights at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for everyone passing through the Grand Prix’s turnstiles after 3:00 p.m., according to a release from event organizers. The 29th running of the Grand Prix de Valcourt will also feature professional snocross and ice oval races. The Canadian Snocross Racing Association (CSRA) will run its fifth round on its 2011 schedule at the Grand Prix. For the Quebec-based SMCX Series, the Grand Prix will be the fourth round on its calendar. Since there are no races on the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross Series the weekend of February 18, some of its racers might run in Valcourt. The Eastern Pro Tour’s oval racing season will also run at the Grand Prix de Valcourt. The Grand Prix sealed its programming on the 0.5-mile ice oval track with organizing body Supermoto Quebec for the return of the 450cc motocross studded class with feature races February 19 and 20. In addition, the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) class, introduced last year in Valcourt, will run its finale on the famed Circuit Yvon Duhamel. Besides the racing competition, other activities are planned for the evening with crowd entertainers, fireworks and bonfires. The Red Bull Winter Patio will be open to the public.
